Broncos

Last offseason, the Denver Broncos signed QB Peyton Manning. No one could question Manning’s talent, but many wondered about how healthy he would be after a neck surgery. Today, Manning looks poised to win NFL MVP and comeback player of the year, and the Broncos are the number two seed in the AFC. Let’s break down one of the AFC’s best team.

Regular Season Review:

13-3, No.1 seed in the conference and therefore has home-field advantage. Broncos started out 2-3 before putting together 11 consecutive wins. Losses: Falcons (27-21), Texans (31-25) and Patriots (31-21).

For the next couple of days, I will be analyzing all 16 teams that made the playoffs. First off: The Houston Texans.

Regular Season Review:
12-4, #3 seed in the AFC. Losses: Packers (42-24), Patriots (42-10), Vikings (23-6), Colts (28-16). The Houston Texans went 5-0 to start the season before their first loss to the Packers. After a 6 game win streak, the team finished the season by winning only one of their last three games.

This is a three part series dedicated to analyzing the three games that took place on Thanksgiving. First up is the 9-1 Houston Texans vs the 4-6 Detroit Lions.

Over the years, the NFL has monopolized Thanksgiving and has generated a large fan base because of it. Yesterday’s game will only help them. On paper, this was easily predicted as a terrible mismatch between the AFC’s best in the Houston Texans and the struggling Detroit Lions. On any given Sunday  anything can happen, and the Lions gave the Texans a run for the money. Outside a controversial TD that couldn’t be reviewed because Lion’s head coach Jim Schwartz threw the challenge flag too early (a rule that I feel will be repealed by next year), the game was officiated well. Let’s get into it:

Originally, I was going to briefly mention the Jets in a post detailing what’s happened in the NFL the past two months. Unfortunately, what’s going on in the Big Apple is too big for a mere mention. Into The Endzone is back, and is kicking off its return with  a special Jets edition. Let’s get to it.

Living in the NJ has caused me to hear more than a bit about the Jets over the years, and the they’ve  been a disaster to say the least. A team usually takes after it’s coach, and maybe that’s the Jets’ problem. This season has been an absolute disaster for the Jets.  they’re 3-5 having lost four of their last 5 games, including a recent 30-9 beatdown from the Dolphins. When (more…)

Welcome back football fans, the 2012 regular season  is right around the corner. As always, the NFL season kicks off with a prime time game with  the reigning champions hosting another team from their conference. The New York Giants look to win it all again, and the road back to the Super Bowl starts with a home game against division-rival Dallas Cowboys. Super Bowls champions have a historical record of 8-0 to start the season, but Dallas looks to end the streak. Will Manning and the Giants prove that last year was no fluke? Or will Tony Romo and the Cowboys get revenge after being knocked out of the playoffs?

Last Game Recap:

The last time these two teams played, the division title was at stake. Entering the game, Dallas’s offensive line issues and QB Tony Romo’s swollen hand were questioned. They were critical factors , as the Giant’s defensive line wrecked havoc(six sacks) on an offense that had previously had success against them in the air. While the Cowboys struggled to put points on the board, Manning threw 3 TDs as the Giants went on to win 31-14.   The game jump started the Giants fantastic performance in the playoffs, and the team went on to beat Tom Brady and the Patriots for their second Lombardi trophy in five years.  The Cowboys  were sent home once again however, with a .500 season and a desire of vengeance.

Just like in any game, there are a few aspects that both teams yearn to have the advantage in since said aspects will ultimately decide the game’s end result. Here are the keys to the game:
